Magic to the Bone

I'm 2/3 of the way through Magic to the Bone but it is due today and I'm out of reading time. Pout. I'm going to drive to the library and return it if they can't figure out some way for me to renew it.  Phooey. I'll have to put it on my waiting list and wait for my turn again.

I wonder what book I'm on for my yearly reading goal anyway. I'm not going to make it because I'm probably 30 books behind. I really really like this book. I like the grittiness and the way Devon Monk writes.

Yasemine Galenorn

I finished Witchling and ordered the next book in her series called Changeling from the library. There is one person ahead of me though. So I started reading Night Myst which is also by Yasmine Galenorn, only it is a different vampire series.

Next month is Nanowrimo so I don't know how much time I'll have for reading while writing a novel.

Yasmine Galenorn

I haven't had any time for reading. So now I have to return Changeling by Yasmine Galenorn and Magic in the Blood Devon Monk before I've gotten to them. I'm halfway done with Witchling, and I know I've read it before but I didn't want to start reading Changeling until I was done with it. I don't like reading books out of order.

Also, I'm still reading Faery Reel. I'm only half done. Well, now that my car is no longer my car, and I can't go anywhere, I'll read more I hope.

Then November is Nanowrimo, so who has time to read while they are writing a 50,000 word novel?
Ack!

Witchling: My Newest Read

I finally finished Witch Boy and turned it in. I found out on the last page that it's a trilogy. But I didn't enjoy it enough to keep reading 2 more. I found a lot of it repetitive. I think that is why I kept putting it down.

I just went to the library and picked up Witchling by Yasmine Galenorn. It's also a series. I've only read one chapter and I'm already totally into it. The only reason I stopped was because the sun went down and I was reading outside. I'm hoping this is a quick fun read because I'm way behind.

What is My Thing For Thick Books?

Books I've finished recently: Game of Thrones and Winter's Tale. Both were quite long, so I'm behind.

Right now I'm reading Faery Reel, which is an anthology of fairy stories. I just haven't had a lot of time since starting Give it 100. Working on my other goals takes up the lion's share of my days.

Now Reading the Faery Reel

Waiting For the Last Sacrifice

I've finished Blood Promise and Spirit Bound. I didn't realize there was another book in the series, but there is. It's Last Sacrifice. So I used my computer to request a copy. In the meantime I'll probably go back to reading Witch Boy, a book I started during a car trip back and forth to Monrovia. I've really lost track of where I am with my reading goals.

Frost Bite and Shadow Kiss

One of the few plusses of the power being off for most of the business day is that I have plenty of time to read and write. So I finished reading Frost Bite. Great summer read. I enjoyed every minute. I've never seen the movie or the TV shows. I only saw one commercial for the TV show and it didn't seem anything like the books. So I ask you readers, do you like the TV show or the movie? Is it worth the time to watch it?

I've only read one page of Shadow Kiss so I'll have to write more about that later.

Frost Bite

It was nice to come back to Lucerne Valley and find more books waiting for me. I'm going to read book 2 of the Vampire Academy series: Frost Bite. I haven't started yet so I have nothing more to say about it, but at least it is on the list so I won't forget to keep track.

Thinking Woman's Guide

I'm currently reading The Thinking Woman's Guide to Real Magic by Emily Croy Barker. I mentioned it on Twitter, and I'll be darned if the author didn't follow me back. How cool is that? Great read. I'm going to be sad when it's over. I also love the cover illustration. Drat it all, I wish I could find my camera so I could show you.

Another Magical Novel

I took the book Blythwood down to Monrovia with me. Can't pack boxes all the day long. I got enough reading time to finish the book, and I enjoyed it a lot, though I think she could have come up with a better name for the bird boy than Raven. I returned it yesterday and forgot to take a photo of the cover. With all this moving and sorting I keep losing track of my camera.

I grabbed a new magical novel to read while I was at the library. I think it's going to be a fun read. It's called The Thinking Woman's Guide to Real Magic by Emily Croy Barker. It's 563 pages. I'm about four chapters into it. I don't have much planned for the day, so hopefully I can read for an hour or two. But right now I need to make breakfast.

Blythwood

Yay! I finally finished Game of Thrones. It took me so long I don't think I'll be reading any more of that series.

I started reading Blythwood. The beginning is based on the tragic fire at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory. I've seen the documentary for that and I'm glad they stuck to the facts in that portion of the book. The storyline also talks about archery and bells, two of my interests. I'm thoroughly enjoying the book so far.

Vampire Academy Book

Hi gang,
I'm behind in my reading goals mostly because I got really bogged down in Game of Thrones. I am about 3/4 of the way through it and when I needed to renew it I couldn't. Someone else had placed a hold on it. So I turned it in and requested it again.

Vampire Academy Book by Richelle Mead

In the meantime, I started reading Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead.  I'm just loving it. It flows like butter into my mind. After picking my way through Game of Thrones, it's nice to just read and have a flow and not have to reread every other page in case I missed something. It's the perfect 'take to the beach' kind of a book. I love the main character Rose.  She is curvy, feisty, independent and smart. Judging by the illustration on the cover, the illustrator screwed that part up. On the cover she looks thinner than the co-star. That's Hollywood for you.

Summer Sisters

For my next book I'm reading Summer Sisters by Judy Blume. I haven't gotten into it deep enough to tell if I like it or not.

All my friends have been talking about Game of Thrones lately so I'm going to see if the library has them. I'll probably have to wait for them.

Fifth Book Finished

I've been so busy reading, I haven't had time to blog. I just finished my 5th book. It was called Wool. It is a Sci Fi story I just loved. Suspenseful and full of surprises and main characters that I fell in love with.

So far I've read Destined, then Hidden and Revealed, part of the Cast vampire series, and a book on Dye.  So the book I just finished was my fifth and I'm ahead of my book a week goal. It feels good.
